After working with short films since 2021, Weave Pictures is now taking a new step forward.
The film project is becoming a volunteer-driven, non-profit film association with the ambition of creating more opportunities for people who dream of working in film, as well as those who already have experience and want to further develop their skills.
The initiative is led by Louie E. Marič, founder and chairman of Weave Pictures.
“I’ve spent quite some time thinking about what I actually want to create with Weave Pictures. I want to create a place where people have the opportunity to try their hand at film production, meet others who share the same interest, and gain the practical experience that can be difficult to get when you want to enter the industry,” says Louie E. Marič.
From Interest to Practical Experience
Weave Pictures aims to be a place where you do not necessarily need a long film education or years of experience to become part of a production.
The association will work exclusively with short films and bring together people with different levels of experience and different interests within film production.
This can include everything from directing, screenwriting and production to cinematography, sound, acting, editing and production design.
The idea is that members and volunteers will learn through hands-on experience and have the opportunity to take part in real film productions.
“There are many people who want to work in film but lack the opportunity to gain experience. That is something we want to help change,” says Louie E. Marič.
Films Created Through Volunteering
Weave Pictures is built on volunteer work and operates as a non-profit association. Participation in the association’s activities and film productions is generally unpaid.
Any income, donations, sponsorships and grants will be used for film productions, premieres, screenings and other activities that support the association’s purpose.
At the same time, the association aims to create an environment where both emerging and more experienced filmmakers can meet and work together.
A Community Built Around Short Films
The goal is not only to produce short films, but also to build a community around filmmaking where people can develop their skills, build connections and gain experience they can carry forward.
Weave Pictures is now working on developing the association’s organisation, upcoming film projects and opportunities for new members and volunteers.
